remec leads wireless broadband industry with microsoft solutions

To achieve this, REMEC decided to search for a business solutions provider that will help the company create a data warehouse to store its archive of information using an integrated IT infrastructure, and realized that Microsoft is capable of providing world-class business solutions that will address these requirements. REMEC set up Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 and engaged implementing partner dB Wizards, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner that specializes in providing world-class solutions, to help the company achieve its business objectives, minimize IT infrastructure costs, and drive organizational growth.

Prior to the project, the company went about the consolidation of their daily production reports by using manual log sheets and Excel files, which take about an average of three hours to generate from several data sources. Accuracy was also cited as a concern as there was no real time visibility on the shop floor. With this process in place, it also became difficult for employees to pull out relevant information and access real time information.

Through the use of SQL Server and the help of dB Wizards, REMEC eliminated all the manual log sheets and built a single data warehouse using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 in order to scale database operations, efficiently manage a pool of information and utilize a specialized Business Intelligence (BI) platform on a self-service basis.

“By building the SQL data warehouse, REMEC can now take advantage of a data management software that will allow them to significantly decrease the time spent on compiling reports and more on understanding how to drive the business forward,” said Poch Reyes, Operations Director, dB Wizards.

With the successful deployment and implementation of Microsoft SQL server 2008 R2, REMEC was able to eliminate the amount of manual log sheets and duplicates of Excel files and consolidate all information to a single data warehouse. In doing so, employees are given the capability to easily access relevant information, enable faster and reliable decision-making, and increase employee productivity – all geared towards achieving internal business objectives and ultimately bring better products and services to customers all over the world.

The centralized data warehouse equipped employees with the ability to pull out necessary information – accurately and in real time. They no longer have to go through several levels of protocol to retrieve and exchange information that would usually require several weeks to develop. “Access to accurate information is a lot easier and faster, almost instantaneous. This means that decisions can be made sooner and turnaround of service to customers made even better,” explained Ramos.

Furthermore, REMEC not only decreased the number of man hours spent on encoding and compiling reports but also allowed employees to expand their learning and experiences by having more time to explore higher value of work like analysis in contrast to merely encoding data.
