July 10, 2013 Manila, Philippines — Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), the largest corporate-led, non-profit social development foundation in the Philippines, has recently sealed agreement with Microsoft Philippines and dB Wizards allowing PBSP to attain a centralized repository of information and documents across its many offices nationwide through the technology called SharePoint.

For over 40 years, PBSP has been a trusted partner of corporate entities and development agencies in implementing community-enabling projects in the country. To date, the foundation has benefited over five million Filipinos and assisted over 6,400 social development projects through more than Php7.6 billion in grants and development loans.

Given its significant role in the society, PBSP needed to ensure that it can always seamlessly collaborate with its various offices and partners around the Philippines through a reliable document management system. In line with this, PBSP has chosen Microsoft’s SharePoint so that the foundation can have a central repository of their documents and a platform that can help them track progress reports. For the implementation, they entrusted dB Wizards because of their more than 10 years of expertise in providing Business Productivity Tools such as Sharepoint to various industries.

Prior to the project, PBSP had challenges with documenting projects: tracking and consolidating key performance indicators (KPIs) per project, organizing support documents: high printing cost, allotment of space for multiple cabinets, safekeeping, data security and project turnovers, among others. PBSP sought out dB Wizards to proceed with the project for document management using Microsoft Sharepoint. In this, dB Wizards took a notch up by assisting PBSP in project data entry and management by utilizing Project Server. Sharepoint and Project Server allowed PBSP to have a reliable, electronic library of data that enabled them to easily track the details of their projects – including the project owner, status from start to finish, cost analysis, project sponsors and more. Tracking progress is more efficient as their new process allows the authorized project managers and their team – and selected sponsors – to review specific project details wherever they are; in contrast to their old process which includes several email exchanges that takes too long to consolidate the details needed.

This made the project with them highly effective and swiftly done – not to mention enabling the Project Managers and Data Management Staff with the knowledge on how to use the technology is very helpful,” Cheryl Balingit, PBSP's Monitoring and Evaluation Head shared.
